ToggleLooking for a holiday camp where your child can turn their love of Minecraft or Roblox into real coding skills? At Graphite Academy, our June holiday camp in Singapore gave children the opportunity to do just that; create the games and worlds they enjoy playing.
The camp featured three themed programmes: Super Mario Coding Adventure, Minecraft Escape Room & Smart Town, and Roblox Game Creation. Each programme introduced coding through hands-on projects that children could build, test, and explore.
Children created retro arcade games, built Mario-inspired worlds in Minecraft, designed escape rooms with hidden switches and puzzles, planned their own Smart Towns, and developed playable Roblox mazes with moving platforms and game scripts.
In this blog, we take you through each of Graphite Academy’s June coding holiday camps in Singapore, what children learned, and the projects they created along the way.
June Coding Holiday Camp Highlights
- Three themed programmes: Graphite Academy’s June holiday camp offered Super Mario Coding Adventure, Minecraft Escape Room & Smart Town, and Roblox Game Creation.
- Variety of platforms: Children explored AR/VR, MakeCode Arcade, Minecraft Education, and Roblox Studio.
- Real coding skills: Students used coordinates, Redstone, Minecraft’s AI Agent, and beginner Lua scripts.
- Creating, not just playing: Children built their own arcade games, escape rooms, Smart Towns, and Roblox mazes.
- Beginner-friendly: Small groups with guided trainers, and no prior coding experience needed.

Three Coding Adventures That Filled Our Classrooms
One of the best features of Graphite Academy’s June Holiday Camp this year was the mix of events. Whether children were exploring virtual worlds, designing puzzle-filled Minecraft maps, or creating their own Roblox games, every classroom had its own story unfolding.
Super Mario Coding Adventure
This coding holiday programme took children on a journey through three different digital worlds, all connected by one familiar theme: Super Mario. Rather than spending the whole camp on a single platform, children discovered how coding can power completely different kinds of experiences.
How the kids’ holiday programme unfolded:
- Day 1, DelightX Edu DelightX Edu (AR/VR learning platform) : Children discovered augmented and virtual reality, exploring interactive worlds and seeing how coding brings immersive digital experiences to life.
- Day 2, MakeCode Arcade (browser-based game creation platform) : Children designed a game instead of playing one, bringing characters, obstacles, and gameplay mechanics together through simple coding to build their own playable retro-style games.
- Day 3, Minecraft Education (educational version of Minecraft) : Children learned to remake Mario-inspired worlds and shape their own 3D creations.
What Students Explored
- AR and VR world building
- Retro arcade game creation
- Mario-inspired Minecraft worlds
- Interactive digital experiences
- Beginner-friendly coding concepts
Minecraft Escape Room & Smart Town
If the Super Mario Coding Adventure introduced children to the many possibilities of coding, this holiday coding camp showed them just how much they could build when imagination met technology.
How the kid’s holiday programme unfolded:
- Day 1, Building with code: After a quick introduction to Minecraft Education, children built structures using code instead of placing every block by hand, learning about X, Y, and Z coordinates along the way. They were also introduced to Minecraft’s AI Agent, seeing how an AI assistant could help shape arrangements and complete tasks for many, their first experience using Artificial Intelligence to create.
- Day 2, Designing escape rooms: Using Redstone, pistons, levers, and sensors, children built escape rooms filled with hidden passages and secret switches, then invited one another to solve what they’d built.
- Final day, Building Smart Towns: Children thought bigger, planning and building their
Skills Students Explored
- Building structures using code
- Understanding X, Y and Z coordinates
- AI-assisted building with Minecraft Agent
- Designing interactive escape rooms
- Using Redstone, pistons, levers and sensors
- Creating automated Smart Towns
- Planning and building sustainable digital environments
Roblox Game Creation
There was one question trainers heard repeatedly throughout this holiday camp in Singapore: “Can I add one more feature?”
How the kid’s’ holiday programme unfolded:
- Roblox Studio (Roblox game creation platform) : Most children arrived as enthusiastic Roblox players, already familiar with exploring worlds and discovering new games. They used Roblox Studio to create the base of a maze game inspired by the popular Grow a Garden concept.
- Learning Lua (Roblox programming language : Children were introduced to Lua, Roblox’s text-based programming language, using simple scripts to make platforms move and animations activate.
- Testing together: Children also got the chance to test one another’s creations.
What Students Created
- A playable Roblox maze game
- Interactive doors and secret entrances
- Moving platforms and game obstacles
- Gacha-style reward mechanics
- Beginner Lua scripts
- A fully customised 3D game world
Student Project Highlights
In the Roblox camp, maze games with moving platforms, secret entrances, and interactive challenges came to life. In another, children built colourful Mario-inspired Minecraft worlds or designed escape rooms.
Graphite Academy: What Made This June Holiday Camp Different?
Across three different holiday camps in Singapore, children explored AR and VR, designed retro arcade games, built Minecraft worlds, and created their own Roblox games. Throughout the student holiday camp, they had plenty of opportunities to try new ideas, ask questions, and turn what they imagined into something they could actually build and play.
Beyond the holidays, our graphite academy’s core programmes offer year-round coding and robotics classes that build on what children learn at camp, while our DSA preparation courses support students aiming for coding and robotics DSA pathways in secondary school.
